Based on the observation of new circumstances of Chinese film market and industry, as well as case study of both artistically and commercially successful Sci-Fi/Fantasy films from China and worldwide, renowned filmmakers will share their experiences, understanding, prediction and expectations for how to develop, make and facilitate “Glocal” contents commercially worthy and to cross borders, and explore new opportunities to collaborate with China.

Mr. Wang is the Vice Chairman of China Film Director‘s Guild, Chairman of Blue Planet Science Fiction Film Festival. He has been dedicated to curate and support generations of young filmmakers, including the most successful sci-fi film Wondering Earth I&II, and has been judge and organizer of many renowned film festival awards, including Hong Kong International Film Festival, Shanghai International Film Festival, Beijing International Film Festival, FIRST Youth Film Festival, and Blue Planet Science Fiction Film Festival. As one of the pioneers of local Sci-Fi genre content production in China, Mr. Wang Hongwei is the driving force behind many successful young directors and new horizon for Chinese Sci-Fi contents development.

Producer and film festival curator, first to launch a science fiction film festival in China. Since 2019, as the co-founder/curator of Blue Planet Science Fiction Film Festival, responsible for Blue Planet curatorial operations; he’s also the main organizer of the 24th Shanghai International Film Festival Golden Goblet Science Fiction Forum. He is also known as the producer of the science fiction short film "Starry Night - The Way Back" directed by veteran director LU Chuan (Kekexili, Nanjing! Nanjing!) , executive producer of the Beijing International Film Festival Samsung cell phone short film series, and producer of the previsualization of short films selected in association with Versatile media and Blue Planet Sci-Fi Film Festival.

Ms. Zhu is an accomplished filmmaker with extensive experiences in cross-culture collaboration between Asia, Europe and the US, including international co-production, distribution, film festival strategy consulting and programming, etc. As managing partner at Juben Pictures, she is known for award-winning films including 12 Citizens (2015), winner of People’s Choice Award at 9th Rome Film Festival; MEIDUO (2017), winner of “Pioneer Producer Award of the year” at the 20th Hollywood Film Festival; AYKA (2018) winner of the best actress award at the 71st edition of Cannes Film festival; WU HAI (2020), winner of FIPRESCI prize at the 68th San Sebastian International Film Festival.
Her recent international production works also include sequel of award-winning Chinese blockbuster Wolf Totem 2, written by John Fusco (Marco Polo, Forbidden Kingdom) ; the first official China-UK co-pro post-pandemic with veteran British director, Justin Chadwick (Mandela), the bio-epic film UNTAMED, based on the real story of the most influential translator of Shakespeare works, ZHU Shenghao; and China-Spain co-pro My Team Vs. Real Madrid , a road-trip comedy inspired by a real event, helmed by decorated director Pengfei SONG (Tracing Her Shadow, Taste of Rice Flower, Underground Fragrance).
Ms. Zhu is also a member of China Film Association, advisor for China’s Golden Rooster Film Awards selecting international films for the BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM AWARD section, and co-curator at China’s first and only Sci-Fi genre film festival, Blue Planet Sci-Fi Film Festival. At Blue Planet, she’s dedicated to discover and support young talents from across the world devoted creating Sci-Fi contents.

Cedric Behrel is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Trinity Filmed Entertainment, an all-rights film distributor dedicated to bringing the best cinema from around the world to UK and European audiences. Cedric gained a BA with Honours in Philosophy from the Sorbonne-Paris University and completed the MA Filmmaking programme at the London Film School.
The CineAsia label, acquired by Trinity in 2015, represents the largest catalogue of Chinese films in the UK including films featuring key Asian film luminaries. In 2022, China’s biggest sci-fi blockbuster WANDERING EARTH Ⅱ, released in the UK and Ireland by CineAsia, became the top grossing Chinese film in the last 15 years. Released in the same year, THE SPARRING PARTNER won Best New Director and Best Editing of 2023 Hong Kong Film Awards.

Mike Gabrawy is a film producer and executive with over 30 years of experience in the entertainment industry. Gabrawy is an expert who speaks the language of the filmmaker and understands what it takes to finance, produce and sell a film. In addition, his vast knowledge of the industry and hands-on experience in film production and development has been vital to the success of the companies he’s helped grow. Seen as an authority on domestic and international co-productions, Gabrawy is frequently invited as a guest speaker on production and finance panels around world.
Currently a producer for Asbury Park Pictures, Gabrawy launched the production company in 2020 with Basil Iwanyk with Iwanyk’s Thunder Road Films, the production powerhouse behind global franchises John Wick, Sicario, and Clash of the Titans, and Redbox Entertainment, the original content division of the massive direct-to-consumer platform with over 45 million U.S. customers. The label was created to leverage the global appetite for moderately budgeted high-concept action and thriller films. In addition, the globally recognized production and foreign sales firm Rocket Science handles international distribution rights for the company.
Under Asbury Park Pictures, Gabrawy has successfully produced BLACK SITE starring Michelle Monaghan, Jason Clarke and Jai Courtney, directed by Sophia Banks, as well as RED RIGHT HAND a Southern Gothic action thriller starring Orlando Bloom, Andie MacDowell, and Scott Haze, directed by the Nelms Brothers currently shooting in Kentucky. Gabrawy also executive produces John Woo’s SILENT NIGHT starring Joel Kinnaman, Academy Award Nominee Catalina Sandino Moreno, Harold Torres, and Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi.
Before starting Asbury Park, Gabrawy was the Chief Creative Officer for independent production and sales company, Arclight Films where he was brought on to ramp up the company’s involvement in the rapidly growing international co-production world. At Arclight, Gabrawy has produced numerous films including the critically acclaimed HOTEL MUMBAI starring Dev Patel, directed by Anthony Maras, and world premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival in the Special Presentation section, as well as the true- life survival thriller JUNGLE starring Daniel Radcliffe, and the international actioner TRIPLE THREAT starring Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais and Tiger Chen. Gabrawy also served as an executive producer on the Australian-Chinese co-production action-adventure film GUARDIANS OF THE TOMB starring Kellan Lutz, Li Bingbing and Kelsey Grammar, THE COURIER directed by Academy Award Nominee Hany Abu-Assad, BAIT 3D which premiered at the 2012 Venice Film Festival and went on to become the highest grossing independent film in China when it was released, RECLAIM starring John Cusack and Ryan Phillippe, and OUTCAST starring Nicolas Cage and Hayden Christensen.
Prior to Arclight, Gabrawy was responsible for acquiring and developing the popular Sony PlayStation game RESIDENT EVIL via his executive position at Constantin Films. The film went on to become Sony ScreenGems’ highest grossing film in 2002 and was one of the most successful franchises of its time earning over a billion dollars worldwide. During his tenure at Constantin, Gabrawy developed several projects based on comic book classics including FANTASTIC FOUR and SILVER SURFER. Before these commercial milestones, Gabrawy moved up through the ranks of production gaining invaluable experience and forging strong industry relationships in various posts on major releases such as NAKED GUN 33 1/3, A LITTLE PRINCESS, STARGATE, WATERWORLD and INDEPENDENCE DAY.
Gabrawy left Constantin in the early 2000’s and went on to produce numerous independent films including STEALING TIME starring Ethan Embry and Jennifer Garner and the award-winning documentary RUNNING WITH ARNOLD.
Born in Cairo, Egypt, Gabrawy grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, the Paris of the Mid-West, where he attended Chaminade College Preparatory before moving onto the University of Kansas where he graduated cumlaude in Film Studies. He has been in Los Angeles for over thirty years and currently lives in Pasadena with his wife, son and daughter.

He previously served as Chairman and General Manager of the Western Film Group. Zhang Hong has been involved in producing, financing, executive producing, supervising, developing and planning of over 50 films and tv series, including "You Are My Sunshine," "Brocade-Clad Guards," "Intimate Enemies," "White Deer Plain," "Qian Xuesen," "The Founding of a Republic," "Deji's Lawsuit," "Blind Massage," "Beautiful Village Officer." Sundance award-winning producer Brent Emery brings over twenty years of international film strategy and business consulting experience to Resonate Entertainment. He has worked as an independent film finance, sales and production specialist at multiple executive posts, including U.S. Head of Co- Productions for ECI (a global entertainment company focused on Chinese Co- Productions) and Executive Vice President of Production and Development at Madonna and Guy Oseary’s Maverick Films.
During his many years at Maverick Films, Emery oversaw development of over fifty studio and independent film and television projects and managed the deals of a dozen independent producers. Projects that emerged from Emery’s tenure include box office record breaking Twilight, which was eventually financed by Summit Entertainment, the hit film Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, and the young adult hit movies Agent Cody Banks I and II.
Emery’s critically acclaimed 2015 film, The Stanford Prison Experiment, won the Alfred P. Sloan Award and Waldo Salt screenwriting award at The Sundance Film Festival. The Road Within, starring Kyra Sedgwick, produced by Emery and written and directed by Emery’s wife, Gren Wells, has garnered multiple international awards, including Best Youth Film at The Rome Film Festival.
After producing Carrie Pilby with Suzanne Farwell and Susan Cartsonis, they went on to create Resonate Entertainment in 2016. Since forming Resonate, Emery has Executive Produced Feel the Beat (starring Sofia Carson) for Netflix, the independent film Dear Zoe (starring Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink), the independent film Space Oddity (directed by Kyra Sedgwick), the independent film Audrey’s Children (directed by Ami Canaan Mann), and True Spirit for Netflix which was just released. Currently, Emery is Producing Sitting in Bars With Cake for Amazon (Starring Yara Shahidi, Odessa A’zion and Bette Midler).
Brent is also a member of the Producers Guild of America and a member of the PGA Indie Film Task Force. He is also an executive committee member of the Producers Union and Officer-At Large.

She has worked in Asian titles including “Hi Mom” $800M Box office in China, “I am what I am” Animetion film. On Top of distribution, She also has worked on the production side for many Hollywood blockbuster films including "Malignant" by James Wan, “Umma” by Sam Raimi, "Midway" by Roland Emmerich; She also has a deep understanding for the Television space, as she began her career in China’s Jilin Television in 2012.

Maria Soccor is the founder of Maria Soccor Productions based in New Jersey. She is an award winning filmmaker, producer, actor and creator of the Amerasian comic, SPEAR. Her production company has done productions throughout the US, and co-productions in Ireland and the UK. As a creator, Maria is a writer and director of branded content, and her topics in narrative film have been Amerasian and Eurasian focused.
As a producer and director on her acclaimed documentary feature film, Lords of BSV, which won 13 awards across the world, and her Cannes Film Festival entry Kicks, which she wrote and directed, Maria Soccor is demonstrating her outstanding talent behind the camera, while simultaneously distinguishing herself as a successful actress.
She is writing and directing Freestyle Music: The Legacy about the Latin hip-hop movement in the 80s and 90s, now known as freestyle music, which remains popular more than three decades later. In 2021, Soccor wrote and directed with Clivillés, a short documentary on the making of the viral music video, C+C Music Factory Presents Latinos Del Mundo-“Yo Soy Latino!”
Maria made history as the first producer of the AR/VR play that premiered at The 2019 Venice International Film Festival, Italian Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica di Venezia, Lovesest with Double-Eye Productions.
As she directs Freestyle Music: The Legacy, Soccor is simultaneously serving as an executive producer with Emmy award-winning executive producer Dan Braun, and Emmy award-winning director Sylvia Caminer, on 2 B Me, a feature documentary exploring identity. Soccor is also directing and co-writing the documentary, Sybil In Her Own Words with the New York Times Best Selling Author, Dr. Patrick Suraci.
Fairytale, the true-life romantic film shot in Dublin, Ireland starring Jim Belushi, was Executive Produced by Maria with Prosperity Media, UK. Soccor won Best Director of a Feature Documentary, and Lords of BSV was also recognized for Best Music in a Feature Film, at the Madrid International Film Festival. Soccor was also named Emerging Director at the Langston Hughes African American Film Festival 2015.
